Finally, back to the blog, although today’s will be short and sweet, and not at all about being a desperate farm wife. It’s about being a mommy. This week I gave birth to Farmhand #2, hence the reason for my long absence on the blog.
For the last month and a half of pregnancy, I dealt with all the usual: heartburn, nausea, general discomfort, and laziness. I dealt with one rare problem from pregnancy though that basically rendered me useless in every way. It’s called Cholestasis. Simply, too many hormones caused itching all over my body. The layman's term for this condition is called “pure hell.”
This is very distracting. I could not concentrate on anything. When I would try to function, I would end up finding that somehow, someway, I was incessantly scratching my arm or belly or legs and forgot completely what I was set out to do. Pregnant women forget anyway, so it’s doubly horrific when all I wanted was to use the restroom.
So that’s my excuse for such a long absence. Now my excuse will be two rotten boys running me down, so cross your fingers that I’ll keep it together for next week. It will be a lesson on how to get things done around here by irritating your significant other with passive-aggressive handiwork. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Mine has been fantastic.
